2016 Mexico City La Danze Macabra Workshop with Michael deMeng: Dia Once

2016 Mexico City La Danze Macabra Workshop
with Michael deMeng October 21 to November 3, 2016

Today is the last day of class.  All are scrambling to get their masks finished including me.  This is the standard to which we all will be held:  Michael's class sample has been painted by the master.

I am happy with my masks and I think they come together rather well if I must say so myself.

If you have never attended a Michael deMeng workshop, the "pencils down" time is announced by the playing of  "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" by Ennio Morricone from the movie of the same name.  But class is not over:  the best is yet to come.  For the next hour or so, Michael will critique the work of all the attendees in an exercise that becomes an extension of the class.

The critique was held in the courtyard of our hotel (please note:  some of the photos were taken inside the hotel because of a brief rain shower).  Here is me going through the paces on my mask:

We each had the option to model our effort (photographer unknown)

Then it was everyone else's turn.

After our critique, we were joined by Felipe our guide who showed us works that he had created.

This is the first night of the Dia de los Muertos celebration.  We all gathered in the lobby of the hotel and then headed downtown to walk the mall with all the other celebrants.
